...Saraki, Clerics Advise Nigerians on Tolerance

Messages of tolerance, perseverance and hope for a better tomorrow for the country were yestreday sent to all Muslims in Kwara State, who join their brethrens to celebrate the end of a month fasting period. From the state Governor, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Kamalideen El-Adabiyy and religious groups, the muslims were reminded of the lessons of Ramadan and tasked to allow the lessons guide their daily conduct even after the fasting month. Saraki in his message urged Nigerians to demonstrate deeper faith and belief in their ability to move the nation forward to greater heights. In the message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tajudeen Kareem, Saraki said no nation could attain greatness if its people lacked strong faith in their own ability to shape their destiny. He identified strong will, determination, patriotism, faithfulness and perseverance as some of the ingredients that make great nations the world over and charged Muslims to allow the lessons learnt during the Ramadan to reflect in their daily activities. "The governor also urged the faithful to continue on the path of caring for their neighbnours, self denial, complete devotion and piety so that all their supplications and good deeds during the holy month would not be in vain," the statement added. In his message, Kamalideen enjoined the Muslim faithfuls to have a deeper reflection of the teachings of the month and strive at all times to improve on their relationship with fellow human beings. The Ilorin grand cleric called on government to use the month to ponder on their seemingly harsh policies and strive to have policies that have human face and mass-oriented, just as he appealed for the masses understanding and cooperation in order to sustain a vibrant nation and a prosperous state. The Nasru llahi il Fathi (NASFAT) society, Ilorin branch through its Chairman, Prince Sulaiman Ayo Fagbemi, called on Muslims to cultivate the habbit of generously given to their brothers in need and shun ostentatious living.
