No Yes Indifferent View results Ibori Advocates Peace in Anambra From Jaiyeola Andrews in Asaba, 11.11.2004 Governor James Ibori of Delta State has expressed concern over the political travails in anambra state, calling on the people to make conscious efforts to work sincerely and selflessly towards the restoration of peace, reconciliation and harmonious co-existence to the state. "I urge our brothers and sisters in Anambra to embrace dialogue as no useful purpose is ever served through recourse to violence, intolerance and vengeful approach to the resolution of political differences," Ibori said. In his goodwill message to muslims on the occasion of this year's ramadan celebration todaya, the governor pointed out that his heart was touched by what he described as "the unfortunate turn of political events in our neighbouring state." He, however, thanked muslims and non-muslims in Delta State for their appreciably high level of religion tolerance and love existing among the various religion sects in the state. Ibori used the ramadan celebration to reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to execute programmes aimed at poverty alleviation, rapid infrastructural development and uplifting the general well-being of the people of the state. The governor equally urged muslims in the country to use the oportunity of ramadan celebration for moral orientation, aimed at sanitising Nigerians as a peoole and the nation as a whole. Continuing, he advised all Nigerians to renew their commitment to build enduring relationship based on love, peaceful co-existence and devotion to the ideals of justice, tolerance and fairplay. Ibori however, reassured the people of Delta State of giving his best, with a view to consolidating and improving on the developmental pace already achieved in the state. He thanked all Deltans and Nigerians whao through prayers, goodwill messages and general support "identified with us in the past five years and especially during the period of the just-concluded legal tussles."
