Bello tasks corporate bodies COMFORT EKELEME LAGOS State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello, has called on corporate bodies to install waste bins along the roads, to improve sanitary condition in the state. Mr. Bello made this call Tuesday while unveiling the West Africa Milk Company (WAMCO) Nigeria Plc Corporate Citizenship Projects at the Excellence Hotel, Ogba. According to him, corporate bodies should complement efforts of government in keeping the state clean, adding that government should on its own provide incentives to encourage such companies. "The government should provide incentives for corporate bodies for them to do more. The government should reduce their tax rate so as to encourage them play the corporate citizenship role effectively", he said. Calling on companies within Lagos to pay their taxes, Bello said the state is not over-taxing anybody. Speaking further, he noted that companies within the state, should appreciate the efforts of the ministry in making sure that highways are cleared of waste, assuring that his ministry is prepared to maintain a clean and healthy environment. Earlier, the WAMCO Managing Director, Chief Theo Spierings, had stated that his company is out to address key issues currently affecting Nigeria, adding that WAMCO as a good corporate citizen has responsibility to support and assist the society. © 2004 @ Champion Newspapers Limited (All Right Reserved).
