From Madu Onuorah, Abuja
PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo will on Sunday host eight other African Heads of States in Abuja in a special summit aimed at finding solutions to the new outbreak of conflict in Cote d'Ivoire.
Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media), Mrs. Oluremi Oyo, told State House correspondents that the summit would be attended by the chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President John Kuffour (Ghana), President Blaise Campaore (Burkina Faso), President Dennis Sassou Nguessou (Gabon).
Others are President Abdullahi Wade (Senegal), South African President Thabo Mbeki, Libyan leader Mohamar Ghadaffi, the Malian President and the chairman of the African Union Commission and the President of Cote d'Ivoire, Laurent Gbagbo.
Oyo said the meeting is being called as a result of the outcome of consultations between Obasanjo and other West African leaders in the last two days over the situation in Cote d'Ivoire.
The meeting will also take a briefing from Mbeki following his mediation efforts in the crisis-torn Franco-phone country.
