ADO-EKITI — FORMER military governors/administrators of Ekiti State have passed a verdict of excellent on Governor Ayo Fayose’s administration.
The former military men who converged at Ado-Ekiti, for this year’s Ekiti Day celebration expressed pleasant surprise at the quantum of development they met in the state which according to them, "dramatically contrasts with the negative image projected in the press." The former military governors/administrators are Vice-Marshall Ernest Adeleye (former Governor Rivers State), Commodore Olabode George (rtd), former Governor, old Ondo State), Admiral Oladeinde Joseph (former, Governor Ogun State), Navy Commodore Kayode Olofinmoyin (former Administrator, Ogun State) and Navy Captain Atanda Yusuf (former Administrator, Ekiti State).
According to them, the shopping complex, the stadium construction, the poultry project scattered round the 16 local governments and several road constructions are efforts which deserve support. "We are therefore at sea," they confessed, "why a government that has established, in only 18 months, a resounding record in physical development could be so badly painted by a section of the press."
They said the governor was popular with the people as attested to by the spontaneous display of affection for the governor everywhere they (the military men) visited, while inspecting project done by the Fayose administration.
Meanwhile, Gov. Fayose has spoken of his plan to organise regular meetings with past military leaders where programmes and other issues on the development of the state would be discussed.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor pleaded with people he might have offended to forgive him, "I want to use this forum again to ask for your forgiveness, those I might have offended, after all, I am human a being," he declared.
In his goodwill message retired Primate of Anglican Communion, the Most Reverend Abiodun Adetiloye, noted that the state was blessed with people who are gifted with brains, urging the people to use their God given talents with a view to joining forces with the present government to build a strong and verile state.
The former Arch-Bishop noted that the governor, Mr. Fayose must be prepared to be crucified and persecuted by his political foes. "But you should not be derailed from pursuing your objective."
