In its 2005 budget defence before the Senate Committee Chairman on Navy at the weekend, the Navy presented a profile of N3 billion and N13 billion for capital and recurrent expenditure respectively. The Presidency has, however, directed that Due Process on this year's capital projects should be completed by December, 2004 while implementation will be allowed till March, 2005 After the closed-door session with the Navy Committee Chairman, Mohammed Ohiare confirmed the waiver, and added that the Due Process Department �has already certified 60 percent of their projects, but the Finance Ministry has only released two percent of the N3 billion allocated for capital projects for 2004. I have been told that government will allow implementation of capital projects up till March, 2005 but that the Due Process must be completed by December this year.� Meanwhile, appearing before the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, Director General of the Nigeria Mining Corporation (NMC) Mr Teslim Jimoh lamented that the corporation owed its staff 20 months salary arrears. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copyright? 2004.
