MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2004           Muslims advised to imbibe lessons of Ramadan Muslims in the country have been advised to imbibe the lessons of forgiveness,piety and closeness to God that the Ramadan period has taught them.Yobe Deputy Gov. Aliyu Bagare gave the advice while speaking to newsmen in Damaturu on Wednesday. Bagare,s urged Muslims in the state not only to adhere to the tenets of theRamadan fast, but also to sustain them as a panacea for social peace and progress. He said the adoption of Sharia in Yobe, was part of efforts to ensure that Muslims did not deviate from Quranic teachings. ``As human beings with weaknesses, the legal system is aimed at putting all Muslims in the proper path,'' he said. ``Government will play its part by providing basic amenities without any bias.'' The deputy governor urged Muslims to inculcate in their children the virtues of tolerance and peaceful co-existence. He blamed youth waywardness on the nonchalant attitude of parents tothe activities of their children and pressure from peers.
