Be Acquainted With Constitution – NOA Boss

Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Mohammed Idi Farouk, has stressed the need for Nigerians to be acquainted with the provisions of the constitution in order to enhance peace, unity and the socio-economic and political development of Nigeria, including the nation's sustainable democracy. Farouk made the call yesterday during the North-east zonal public presentation of the abridged portion of the 1999 Constitution both in English and Hausa at the CFA Hotel, Gombe Road, Bauchi. The NOA Director-General who was represented by theAssistant Chief NOA Officer from the National Headquarters, Abuja, Mr. Samuel Sango said the constitution would enable Nigerians to know their rights, duties, responsibilities, obligations and limitations towards the overall socio-economic and political development of the country. Farouk who disclosed that the constitution was printed in Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba in addition to English also charged NOA officers to intensify efforts towards enlightening the public on the Nigerian Constitution up to the grassroot to enhance sustainable democracy in the country. Earlier in his welcome address, the State Acting Director of the Agency, Malam Adamu Isiyaku Ningi said the pamphlets were produced and distributed by NOA and United States of America (USA) Embassy to give Nigerians the opportunity to know their constitutional rights and duties. He this would greatly create awareness among Nigerians, pledged his directorateís commitment to mobilize public up to the grassroot for a good understanding of the nation's constitution. In his vote of thanks, the NOA Officer from Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the State, Malam Nuru Kobi pledged to disseminate the information at the grassroot level.
