A housewife in Lagos has learnt a bitter lesson from an Imam, whom she contacted to help win back her husband’s love.
Rather than win back the lost love, the priest gave the woman, simply identified as Ronke, what her hubby had been denying her-hot, passionate romp, though she said she was placed under a spell.

Described as the Imam of a mosque in the Agbado area, on the outskirts of Lagos, the priest, who gave his name as Alhaji Sharafadeen Falagbo said he had only handled the housewife professionally.

But, Ronke who has taken her case to the police disagreed, saying: " It’s a lie. He slept with me. He said if I wanted to keep my husband for good, that he would have to make 16 incisions on my private part, and that once my husband slept with me, he would never look at other women again.

"Then he gave me a concoction to drink. As soon as I took it, I became weak and that was when he raped me."
The confrontation between Alhaji Falagbo and Ronke was in the presence of the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Area " G" command, Ogba, Mr. Sam Ojehunme, who had recovered three coffins, red clothes, a knife and wooden images from the Imam’s house.

Trying to prove to the police that the Imam actually slept with her during the just concluded Ramadan period, Ronke said: " I can describe his manhood. He has a very small, but very strong penis. After giving me 16 incisions on my private part, he assured me that my runaway husband would return after three days but I am yet to see the man. Yet he collected from me N5,000, one hen and abused my womanhood."
Claiming that the man might have planned to use her for rituals, Ronke said: "He placed a charm in my mouth and my body has been drying up ever since. I feel so hot inside. I can’t eat. I have taken up to seven sachets of water today."

Putting up a defence, Alhaji Falagbo said, "I’m an Alfa. I own a central mosque at Suberu Oje area of Agbado. I’m an Imam. The woman came to me for assistance and I gave her some charms because I also act as a native doctor. I assured her that her husband would surely come back."

The Imam claimed he told the woman to make the incision herself on the day her husband would come, home and to ensure she makes love with her husband that day. He also said there were other things he instructed her to do, like carrying sacrifice to the path where three roads meet.

He said, "If she applied it like I advised, the husband will no longer run away again and the man will remain faithful to her till death do them part. But, just because she stayed ten days without the husband coming home, she reported to the police that I raped her and used her for ritual."
The argument took another dimension, when the Imam revealed that the woman had patronised him before. Ronke fired back, saying, "that was in the year 2002, when I came to inquire from your shrine whether my newly rented shop would be favourable or not."

She stressed that it was a friend that introduced her to the Imam.
After looking at the facts of the case, Ojehunme described the Imam as a fraudster, who was using fetish things recovered from him to deceive his unsuspecting victims. He added that there was no place in the Holy Koran, where it was written that an Islamic preacher should use fetish objects.

The Imam told Ojehunme that he was using the coffin found with him for protection, while Ronke during the interrogation said she could have taken her husband’s case to the Celestial Church of Christ, but had the fear that the prophets would tell her husband, since that is where the family worships.
