Nnamani Spends N10bn on Projects

Enugu State Governor, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, has said his administration would spend over N10 billion on the on-going capital projects sited within the Enugu Central Development Centre. He made this known at the town union meeting of the council listing the projects to include International Conference Centre, ESUT Teaching Hospital, dualisation of Chime Avenue, judiciary headquarters, Loma Linda Housing Estate and a number of link roads. Nnamani reiterated his commitment to ensure the completion of all the projects before the expiration of his tenure, saying that his successor would not inherit any abandoned project. He lauded the chairman of the centre, Mr Agu Gab Agu, for organising the town union meeting, describing it as “democracy at work’ as the event” provided an avenue for stakeholders in his local government to dialogue and review situation in the council. In his remarks, former Governor of Enugu State, Chief Christian Onoh, noted that local government administration has provided an instrument for grassroots development. He called on council chief executives across the nation to justify creation of the third tier of government by embarking on projects that would make positive impact on the people. Earlier in his address Agu, said the meeting of residents of the council was a forum for accountability and was designed to bring residents and stakeholders together to discuss their common problems and find solutions for the progress of the council. He said his administration has embarked on poverty alleviation programmes including distribution of 25 motorcycles, 14 sewing machines, provision of modern toilets in each ward, motorised boreholes, and a civic centre, adding that the Ukwa Street road project was already in progress.
