Ikhana Finally Resumes with Kwara United
From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin, 11.29.2004
At last, the waiting game on the technical manager of Kwara United of Ilorin for the next season ended over the weekend as newly signed on Kadiri Ikhana formally arrived the club secretariat to assume duties. Ikhana, the CAF Champions League coach of the Peoples Elephant, Enyimba, arrived to the waiting hands of apprehensive club fans and enthusiastic management who all beamed with smiles. The coach, who was lured to Ilorin with a N6million sign on fee and a monthly take home pay of N300, 000, had initially kept United waiting on his actual arrival date, a situation which made fanatical fans of the club to besiege the club secretariat in search of positive words on the coach. The coach, on arrival went to business as he held heart to heart talks with some key players of the team some of whom had signalled their intention to quit the club in search of golden fleece elsewhere. The coach, whose designation is ‘Technical Manager’, has received his official car, while other agreements are being sorted out by the management. Ikhana would formally resume screening of all intended players for the club this week after which, he would close the screening exercise for the short listing of successful players for the team in the new season. Already, the club’s secretariat has become a beehive of activities since the coach arrival with desperate players making enquiries on the screening formular of the bespectacled sweat merchant. The club is to campaign in the less fancied pro league having finished 16th in the Premiership table last season.
