Lawal Spent N54m on Thugs - Report From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Programme {PAP} in Kwara State, Alhaji Usman Bibire Ajape, has disclosed that former Governor, Muhammadu Lawal spent the sum of N54 million to pay salaries of thugs and other political miscreants. Ajape, at the submission of his committee's report to Governor Bukola Saraki, added that the thugs were recruited from motor parks and garages, in order to sustain his second term ambition. The thugs, Ajape alleged, "were responsible for the killings, arsons and wanton destruction of property and lives and unleashed a reign of terror on the peace loving people of the state". He revealed that his committee was allegedly able to trace the money to the former Commissioner of Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRasak Lawal, former Administration Manager of Herald, Alhaji Isiaka Owolabi, a former chairman of Asa Local Government, Alhaji Isiaka Labaika, as well as a former lawmaker, Alhaji Yekinni Alajagusi.
