Kwande Indigenes Get Free Fertilizer Two trucks of fertilizer donated to people of Kwande Local Govern -ment by Governor George Akume have been shared in Adikpo, to individuals, political parties, youth and several groups, free of charge. The Interim Administrator of Kwande Local Gover -nment, Mr Hanior Henda, who led members of the committee set up to carry out distribution of the commodity warned representatives of the groups who collected the fertilizer to ensure that their members benefit from the gesture. Henda said the donation was to cushion the effect of the Kwande political crisis, which rendered most people who would have bought fertilizer financially incapacitated, and were not therefore able to buy the commodity. The Sole Administrator said although the fertilizer may not be used this year, he advised that it be preserved for early application next farming season. Block allocation of the commodity was made to members of the PDP, the UNPP, the ANPP and the AD, including Paul Unongo, Margaret Icheen and Ashar Igyungu. Commenting on the exercise, Special Assistant to the former Speaker of the State Assembly, Mrs Margaret Icheen, Mr Peter Hanmeza said the UNPP was happy over Akume's magnanimity and urged the people of the area to embrace peace for the development of the local government. In his comment, ANPP Treasurer, Mr Iorungwa Uzego, also thanked government for not discriminating in the allocation, saying the gesture was a demonstration of the governor's deep concern for the people of Kwande Local Government area.
