Expert Protests Embassy's Visa Denial From Ademola Adeyemo in Ibadan A Nigerian water expert, Michael Ale, has petitioned the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNH -RC) over the refusal of the Embassy of Switzerland to approve his entry visa application to attend the World Bank organised training workshop. According to Ale, he had got an invitation from the World Bank Institute to attend a global course in international training on integrated water resources management, organised for water experts. The course, which will take place in Divenne, France between October 11 and 18, will give participants an opportunity to guide their home government on how to meet the United Nations set goal of reducing by half, the number of people not having access to safe water and good sanitation by year 2015. According to Ale, he is the only African out of 30 experts selected for the global training this year, based on the World Bank pre-qualification. But Ale who approached Swiss Embassy for a passage visa said "I presented all necessary documents to the embassy, but I was denied entry visa based on personal indifference the visa secretary expressed. "She said she is not interested in giving the visa because she is not sure of my contact with the World Bank."
