Clerics to Partner with Banks on Housing Lagos By Idowu Sowunmi Amidst uncertainty surrounding the N25 billion capital base for the banking sector, a group of Christian clerics, Oshodi Ministerial Council (OMC) has indicated interest to partner with some banks on housing scheme and small and medium enterprises. Addressing a press conference in Lagos, OMC Chairman, Rev. Sunday Akingbelure, said the formation of OMC was based on members' desire to embark on a two-fold programme. These programmes, he noted, are both investment-drive and property- drive, adding that they have resolved to take the ministers and people of God from being a liability to asset. He added that the decision became crucial so as to assist some of the members who are struggling but are not getting the expected results and to face some the challenges and move forward. He gave a hint on the group's intention to incorporate OMC as a corporate legal entity to have a platform for mode of operations by then membership scope can be widened to accommodate others even non-members. Akingbelure, who is also the Pastor-in-charge of Total Gospel Bible Church, Oshodi, explained that to achieve these set objectives they have already entered into some kind of partnership with some banks in Nigeria. He emphasised that the relationship is in form of a symbiotic way to cater for the two parties and further named the banks as Union Savings and Homes, Zenith Bank, Oceanic Bank, National Bank, Institute of Financial Planning among others.
