Ekiti police arrest suspect over anti-Fayose documents
A suspect caught circulating inciting documents against the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has been arrested by the Police Command.
The command's public relations officer, Mr. Emmanuel Inyang (ASP) told reporters that the suspect who was detained at the criminal investigation department of the command had down-loaded an inciting document from the internet and was circulating it to residents of the state.
The document, which castigates the governor for misrule among other things, was written by two indigenous of the state based in the United States of America and it was published on the Internet.
It criticises the governor for his role in the detention of Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and two former governors during the rescheduled council election in the state last March.
But Inyang said that the document was capable of causing trouble if not properly checked, saying that the state needed peace to achieve steady progress.
He said investigation into the alleged circulation of inciting documents had begun and the state police command would not sit idly and allow any disgruntled politician to set the people against themselves.
He explained that circulating false information against the governor with the sole aim of disrupting the peace of the state was not acceptable, adding that politicians should learn to play the game of politics without hunting one another.
The police spokesman said the police would not spare anyone found causing confusion in the state, saying the state was now relatively peaceful.
He expressed the readiness of the police to maintain peace in the state at all times, saying that, enemies of peace should leave the state or face the wrath of the law.
He said the state police command was not investigating the attack on Ado Ekiti council boss, Mr. Taye Fasuba.
He disclosed that the investigation was being done by policemen from the force headquarters in Abuja.
