Friday, October 1st 2004 HOME | back to previous page Fayose calls for dialogue over increases in prices of petroleum products   By David Atalese, Special Correspondent, Ado-Ekiti   The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has called for dialogue among all stakeholders over the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products. Answering reporters question at a press conference in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, Fayose said that �there should be a rubbing of minds� over the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products. He said that the people should not continue to suffer and removal of subsidy could not continue forever, �but we need to dialogue as it would have multiplier effect.� Fayose noted that Nigerians are going through untold hardship, and called on President Olusegun Obasanjo to find palliatives for the people. On the rehabilitation of Ado-Ekiti/Omu-Aran road, the governor said contract for the work would be awarded before the middle of November, 2004. Commenting on the reconstruction of bridges along Ado-Ekiti/Ido road, Fayose said government would construct four roads to link the state capital to Afao-Ekiti; from Afao to Ire/Ilupeju Ekiti while the next set of roads would be from Erio to Awo,Esure to Ifaki Ekiti. He announced that the Ministry of Agriculture was collating the names of farmers in the state with a view to producing the state�s farmers of the year who would receive a brand new Peugeot 504 car in December.
