Jigawa Justice Reforms Cottee Gets N46.6m Counterpart Funding From Bala Nasir in Dutse The Jigawa State Justice Sector Reforms Committee has recieved N46.6 million as counterpart funding from the state government for the Access to Justice Programme of the State which is being run under partnership with the British Department for International Development (DFID). The State's Chief Judge, Justice Tijjan Abubakar declared this in a speech he delivered at this year's legal which was held Thursday at state High Court Premises. He said, the legal year was supposed to take place on the 14th of last month due to some problems that had to content with part of which he said was his absence during the time. From the said amount, according to Justice Abubakar, the state's judiciary received N14 million for its Justice Sector Institutions in the state. A total of 20,986 Civil and Criminal Case were disposed by the courts in the state, he said. Adding, 4,642 were criminal while 16,261 were civil cases. "Most of these cases were handled by the Shariah Courts under the Shariah Legal System as introduced in the state." He however, declared that, performance of any institution depends on the efficiency of its manpower, while security of the people is a pre-condition for economic growth in any society. From this therefore, Justice Abubakar said, "we give manpower developer a high priority in the state during it the last legal year.' This is in recognition of the essence of manpower in the dispensation justice, he said. "Also dispensation fo Justice is essential for the maintenance of law and order." He announced that, the glossary of Legal Terms has been translated into Hausa language and will soon to be printed and put into use in courts throughout the state.
