Osibajo Urges Nigerians to Prayer By Idowu Sowunmi Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, Prof. Yemi Osibajo, yesterday charged Nigerians to pray and fast fervently for the betterment of the nation. Osibajo said this while ministering at the commencement of a series of activities to mark the 10th anniversary of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (Christ Church), Gbagada, Lagos. The Attorney General while observing that the opening celebration coincided with the 44th Independence anniversary of Nigeria pointed out that obviously the foundation of Nigeria was laid more on animism, but said "where you start is not the same as where you end up. God has raised the present generation of people because they can alter the foundation through prayer. They can change the foundation and reorder the whole process." On the religious pluralism in Nigeria, Osibajo added that most countries of the world have the same nature with Nigeria, noting that Nigerians should get closer to God and be transformed to live according to His words. He continued "we should thank God that we've not experienced the trauma our mistakes deserve. Some countries in Africa that have not made the kind of mistakes Nigeria made have passed through a lot of trauma, especially in East and West African sub-regions." He maintained that "prayer is the foundation and has to be the foundation. Faith without work is dead. We've prayed and we continue to pray. But it's time to work.
