Gombe to Revoke Undeveloped Plots From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Gombe State government may revoke undeveloped plots allocated to individuals for over 20 years. State commissioner for land and survey, Hon. Ahmed Yayari disclosed this yesterday in an interview in Gombe, saying there were thousands of people in the state willing to own plots. According to him, individuals holding plots for several years without developing themhave not been fair He said some people even got their plot as far back as 1977 without developing them. "On their certificate of occupancy there is a clause that says people should develope their plots within two years. And looking at the situation in Gombe there is acute accommodation problem and there is serious demand for residential purposes." "Is there any justification of allowing these people to contine to hold on to plots allocated to them for 20 to 30 years ago without developing them. They are denying those who have the ability to develop such plots" Yanyari promised to continue to enlighten people on the ,, to develop their plots and also called on land speculators to desists from holding on to plots for commercial reasons. Besides, the commissioner said henceforth government will no longer compensate any body who fails to follow due process in acquiring land or developing it. He also promised that government will endeavour to provide facilities in all layouts throughout the state.
