PDP chiefs urge support for Kwara council leader
T HE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward chairmen of Irepodun Council in Kwara State, have urged support for the new leader, Abdulkareem Adewumi, following an election tribunal's verdict confirming his victory as the chairman of the council.
The call was contained in a resolution passed by the ward chairmen in a meeting held at the weekend where they also commended the state government for reinvigorating the party's machinery at the grassroots.
The party leaders also expressed gratitude to Governor Bukola Saraki for his nomination and subsequent appointment and swearing in of Mr. Bode Ojomu, as the new PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary.
But they condemned the opposition of the Minister of State for Health, Funke Adedoyin, to the appointment of Ojomu. They also deplored the negative role of the party chairman in Irepodun Council, Chief I. B. Odedina on the same issue.
The ward leaders therefore urged Adedoyin to let Kwarans, especially Irepodun feel the impact of her appointment at the Federal level. They alleged that Adedoyin has treated the grassroots with contempt since her appointment over 15 months ago, adding that not even once has she come home to rub minds with the people at the grassroots in the council.
On party patronage, the PDP chieftains urged the use of party structure for the distribution of party patronage in the council.
