Our High Commission in Kenya
SIR: It is with great pains in my hear that I write this letter to you. My friend was at our High Commission in Kenya to enquire about the required documents needed for her to visit Nigeria. On getting there, she met one Attache who started asking her out immediately he met her. She went back for the required information on Monday and on getting there, he started asking her for sexual favours, right there in his office. She was disconcerted, to say the least and was able to get out of his office by the skin of her teeth as he was intent on having his way.
I know we as Nigerians are not this way and this misrepresentation of our dear country is most disgraceful. I don't know how often the embassy official must have carried out this wicked scheme of his in soliciting sexual favours from visa applicants but I want this to be the last one that he'll ever do. Needless to say, this has dented the image of Nigeria in my friend's eyes and I've had to do some damage control.
I don't know how many of our embassies are involved in this irresponsible behaviour and we may not know unless an enquiry is carried out to verify and ascertain how embassy staff treat visa applicants. Also, the fact that other countries treat our applicants shabbily does not give us the moral latitude to behave indecently towards applicants wishing to visit our country. Please, I implore you to use your good offices to bring this shameful thing to the attention of the proper authorities so that we may have sane international relations with citizens of other countries wishing to visit us.
