The police in Enugu State now have a reason to believe the saying that appearances are often deceptive, as they found a young man who had been walking the streets for four months, dressed like a lady.

The reason Joseph Edeh has been doing this is still unclear to the police, who said they were investigating to see if he had any criminal motive.

Identified as an SS3 student of Agbani Secondary School, in Nkanu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Edeh looked like a girl that had just stepped out of a fashion magazine as he stood at a bus stop, where someone from his village recognised his face and began to chase him as he was trying to escape.

Edeh ran into a church premises and the security guard tried to protect him, thinking he was a girl being harassed.

But a mob soon gathered and Edeh was unmasked and handed over to the police. He told many stories to get himself free and what he hammered on most was that he was a homosexual who was out looking for a boyfriend.

He said that he had been able to attract lots of men with his camouflage, as he begged the police not to let his church hear about the shameful act.

"Please help me beg the police to release me," he said. "I will never do this again. My greatest regret is that I m of the St. John s Catholic choir in Agbani. If they find this out, I will be punished and disgraced."

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Ogu Police Station, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) F.O Eroh said: "As soon as investigations end and we find out that he has no criminal motives, we shall release him."
Edeh said he had a boyfriend who gives him money whenever they meet at an hotel.
