Justice Stephen Adah, the trial judge, tied the hands of the Code of Conduct Tribunal when he ordered all parties in the suit to maintain status quo. The embattled governor is billed to appear before the tribunal today (Wednesday). Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Justice Muhammad Bashir Sambo, had on September 8, 2004 insisted that Dariye must appear before him or risk arrest. He was accused of making false declaration about his assets while holding office as the Plateau State Governor. But Dariye had asked the Federal High Court, through his counsel, Chief Rotimi Williams (SAN) to determine whether having regard to Section 180 and 185 of the 1979 Constitution, a state governor, duly elected and sworn in pursuant to the constitution, is in view of Section 308 of the same constitution, could be dragged before any court or tribunal on civil or criminal proceedings, or any court or tribunal compelling his appearance.         HOME | ABOUT THE SUN | SPORTS | POLITICS | NEWS | COLUMNISTS | CONTACT US I ADVERT RATE © 2004 THE SUN PUBLISHING LTD.
