TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12 , 2004           KNSG refutes rumour on unrest By UMAR DANLADI ADO KANO state government has refuted media reports that there was pandemonium, uneasiness and bonefires in some locations in Kano metropolis following the on-going stay-at-home strike action called upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and other civil liberty groups, describing the speculations as baseless. According to a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the state acting governor, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmad Ibrahim, the report was imaginative handiwork of whoever was the author and sponsor of the rumour. The release assured that Kano state is as peaceful as ever and its people remain peace loving as they are going about their normal businesses peacefully. The statement added that the attention of the government of Kano state has been drawn to a certain media report yesterday that there was tension, pandemonium, uneasiness and bonefires in the state. The release further assured that the government is ever ready to protect the lives and properties of all people living in the state.
