Kano: Commercial Activities in Top Gear From Yakubu Musa in Kano The nationwide industrial action called by NLC, was not highly successful in Kano State, as apart from banks that were closed and workers deserting their places of work, commercial activities continued without any sign of the strike. THISDAY checks revealed that Sabon Gari Market, which is the main market in the state was opened yesterday, and shops across the streets of the ancient city were also opened for business. In the same vein, commercial vehicles like buses, cabs as well as motor bike were seen plying the streets. An indigene, Mallam Ali Sorondinki, however, told THISDAY that "we cannot afford to stay at home and die of starvation and at the end of the day, they will announce that they reduce N3 or N4 before they announce another hike."
