Commissioner Debunks Assassination Attempt From Jaiyeola Andrews in Asaba Delta State Information Com-missioner, Mr Magnus Onyibe, has debunked report that he was the target of assassination which claimed his driver's life. The commissioner said he was a man of integrity, who would never soil his hands or engage in any shady deal that would warrant unknown gunmen going after him. Speaking to THISDAY in Asaba yesterday, Onyibe said he has "received calls from both within and outside the country, advising me to be more careful, of course you are aware that I am the only commissioner in Delta State who do not have police orderly". Besides admitting that people are already insisting that he must have police orderly, he also said he believes in the protection of almighty God, adding that it is only God that guarantees safety and protection. The commissioner explained that investigation by the police was going on over his driver's death, adding also that he was convinced that it was a clear case of armed robbery attack. Describing the report as spurious, he noted that "I represent integrity even in the private and public sectors. Those are the kind of difficulties I have had fitting into the system, because a lot of people who know me from outside have asked me how I am coping as a politician".
