PDP Unites for LG Polls in Anambra

Different factions of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)in Onitsha South council of Anambra State have fused together with a view to speaking with one voice ahead of the state council elections now fixed for December 18 by the State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
In an enlarged meeting of the Onitsha South Chapter PDP State Holders forum at Okija Hall, Fegge, groups within the council chapter like the Ezeobi Okpala group, Ohamesi group, Ezeanokwasa group, Moedu and I.K. Asuzu groups came together under the Onitsha South PDP State holders forum and pledged their abiding faith in, and support for the party.
The forum was attended by Hon. Anthonia Tabansi-Okoye, the member representing Onitsha South II Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Chief Samuel Ofomata; the PDP Chairman in Onitsha South, Chief Luke Ezeanokwasa and Chief Chuks Onyeizugbe (party stalwarts) among many others.
The party chairman in the area, Chief Ofomata who spoke to newsmen after the forum's meeting, said the essence of the meeting was to mobilize people for the forthcoming local government elections in the state and for them to be aware that the election must be devoid of violence.
He said all stalwarts of PDP in Onitsha South came together to unite and prepare a memo for the attention of the state Governor, Dr. Chris Ngige.
Pledging the group's resolve to campaign for such credible and acceptable candidates of the party for the elections, Ofomata said the different groups within the party that came together under one umbrella of Onitsha South Stake Holders Forum, and had already created election committees in the wards among others to begin massive mobilization and campaign at the grassroots level.
Aspirants into the chairmanship and councillorship postions in the council area like Chief Luke Ezeanokwasa and Dr. Ezeobi Okpala also spoke at the forum enlightening the people on the need for their total participation in the election, their programmes, as well as the ANSIEC guidelines, and the final requirements of N30,000 and N10,00 respectively for chairmanship and councillorship positions.
