The new fuel price increases
SIR: Having been in touch with a good number of our colleagues, natural rulers around the country and having been in contact with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, we are of the opinion that the issue of the new fuel price increases has become a very terrible sore-point in the polity.
We wish to note the deep sense of patriotism of the Nigeria Labour Congress which has continued to appreciate the fact that we all crave for peace and stability in our great country. We also wish to note the avowed interest government is always ready to invest in dialogue.
It is open to no dispute that we all stand to be the losers in an all out face-off, like we are about to witness.
It is with utmost sense of love for the progress, peace and stability of Nigeria that we call on both the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Nigeria Labour Congress, the leadership of civil societies and other stakeholders to make an immediate and intensive use of this phenomenon - Dialogue - in a manner that will make an amicable settlement of this crisis possible in the general interest of the Nigerian people.
