The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has urged Muslims in the country to look out for the new moon of Ramadan as from tomorrow which corresponds with the 29th day of Shaban, 1425 AG.
A statement from the NSCIA signed by its secretary general, Dr Abdul-Lateef Adegbite, yesterday, said if the new moon is sighted on October 13th, “a request should be made through the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido, on telephone number 060-232596 and 060-237511.
Dr Adegbite, in the statement, also urged the Muslim Ummah to convey any information on the moon sighting to the Shehu of Borno, Umar El-Kanemi on 076-236809 or the NSCIA secretariat in Abuja on telephone numbers 09-6717081 – 83 or 09-5230796.

The statement said “sho-uld the moon not be sighted on the latter date (13th), the Tarawih prayer shall be observed on Thursday, October 14th 2004, with the Ramadan fast commencing the following day, Friday October 15th, 2004.”
