YOUR LETTERS Open letter to Gov. Makarfi of Kaduna state Please permit me some space in your widely read newspaper to make some comments on the terrible road situation in Barnawa lowcost Housing Estate in Kaduna metropolis. The whole road network traversing the entire estate is in dire need of repairs as the roads are inaccessible and unmotorable, especially during the rainy season. One major road that comes to mind is the stretch from Uganda road upto the Chinese Quarters which would have helped in easing out traffic congestion and will equally serve as a short-cut to industrial and residential areas of Kakuri and Makera. I plead with his Excellency the Executive Governor of Kaduna state to make this road a very urgent and priority project because of the large population of civil servants and business men that live at the lowcost. It would be recalled that this same stretch of road was contracted out some couple of years ago by the Kaduna South local government but the contractors abandoned the project and disappeared with the contract sum. Besides, I feel this road project is beyond the capacity this local government area can handle. What we now experience on this road are, gullies, potholes and craters to the discomfort of the residents. Please your Excellency, we will be very grateful if the road in Barnawa lowcost is tarred especially the Uganda road stretch. By your timely response all the inhabitants of the estate will now see a simple demonstration of fairness like the residents of Malali, Unguwar Rimi and Marafa estates. Silas Luka Kato Garki, Abuja.
