TUESDAY, OCTOBER 12 , 2004           Abuja DRTS warn reckless drivers, Okada riders From YUSUF SHU�AIBU, Abuja DIRECTORATE of Road Traffic Services in the Federal Capital Territory (DRTS) has warned reckless drivers and construction company drivers operating in Abuja to be mindful of other road users. According to the DRTS, besides dangerous driving, construction company vehicles flying the FCT roads need to improve their road worthiness status. A letter written by the DRTS, director, Mr. Samson Ataiyero to the 27 major construction companies operating in FCT, contained a riot act. �The DRTS has noticed with dismay the prevalence of reckless and dangerous driving by your company drivers which lowered road worthiness status of your vehicles and non-renewal of your motor vehicle documents,� he wrote. Mr. Ataiyero lamented that most construction company drivers do not have a valid drivers licences, reminding their principals that the renewal of vehicle particulars was an annual obligation. Pointing out a fact, he said there was no exemption to the rule. Meanwhile, the DRTS is all out to deal with reckless drivers and especially construction company drivers who do not obey road signs and rules and regulations of the road.
