THE Federal Capital Territory (FCT) commissioner of
police, Mr. Emmanuel Adebayo has assured that no matter how hard armed
robbers can be, his men will track them within a shot time.
Mr. Adebayo who was speaking to newsmen shortly after
parading criminals found terrorising the city said men of the police force
are always on a stand-by to answer to distress calls.
During the briefing, Mr. Adebayo explained how a team of
policemen on a routine patrol acting on a tip-off arrested one Obinna Ogbo
of Apo Mechanic Village, Garki and found on him one Revolver locally made
pistol with four 9 mm round of life ammunition and another one Peugeot 504
Saloon with registration No. AG 869 GWA as exhibits.
According to the commissioner, before his arrest, a
robbery incident occurred at Plot 154 Onenpede Close Garki. The same area
where the suspect was arrested.
He also explained how upon investigation the security
guard at Plot 154 identified the suspect as one of the robbers who invaded
their residence and made away with one Peugeot 504 with same registration
number above which was recovered same day along Dantata Road by patrol team.
Also, in the line of armed robbery, another James Ogbu
who was reported to be the brain behind the robbery in Kubwa has been
arrested together with one Ugochukwu who is another master robber in Utako
District of Abuja.
Both suspects were arrested shortly after a case of
robbery was reported to the Kubwa Police Station and the Divisional Police
Officer decided to comb some black spots within his jurisdiction and James
Ogbu was arrested and he confessed to be a member of an armed robbery gang
terrorising Kubwa, while the other Ugochukwu was arrested with a locally
made pistol and one cartridge during a stop and search at Utako division.
Ugochukwu however confessed that the pistol was given to
him by one Oliver in order to assist him beat police check point.
Meanwhile, he confessed to have been the gang terrorising
Life Camp and Gwarinpa area.
Also in the same vain, another Jonathan Ariyo Joseph and
one Danjuma Audu were arrested by the police in Gwagwalada who were
answering a distress call shortly after criminal broke into a residential
house behind Kontagora Estate.
The thieves were however, after making useful statements, found with some
exhibits to include five GSM handsets, a wrapper and earrings the police
commissioner said.
