THE emir of Kauran Namoda in Zamfara state, Alhaji
Muhammad Ahmad Asha has charged youth to emulate the good virtures and
intellectual scholarship of the late Usman Danfodio.
He said late Danfodio had lived a life that was full of
wisdom, scholarship, as well as a strong defence of Islam.
The emir who spoke through Alhaji Garba Yabo during the
formal launching of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara Students Association (SOKE-ZASA)
calendar of the Kano state School of Hygine chapter lamented that what is
happening in today's society could be attributed to lack of adherence to
religious teachings as well as failure to follow the footsteps of good
leaders.
Alhaji Yabo, however, advised the students to utilise and
put into practice what they learnt in the school, stressing the need for
them to unite themselves and speak with one voice to achieve a common goal.
In his presentation, Dr. Yusuf M. Adamu, a Geography
lecturer with Bayero University, Kano challenged Muslims in the North to be
alive to their responsibilities as Muslims.
He, however, emphasised on the need for serious literary
writing among muslims which he observed in the North was only left in the
hands of young people, a gesture he said that he received series of
complaints in the society.
Dr. Adamu pointed out that many people are aware of the
debates on Hausa Literary movements or littatafan Soyayya, saying,
it became testimony that Hausa-Muslim writing remained at cross roads,
hence, the need to revive the writing culture and refocus it to better
directions, he added.
Remarking, the chief launcher, Hajiya Hauwa Datti
Abubakar, commended the students for their effort to form such an
association, noting hat their studies are very important as they deal with
societal health.
She then called on the Kano state government to give more attention to
the School of Hygiene so as to improve the general health condition of the
people and their environment.
