Okadigbo: Burial not only ANPP affair Olebara

BY CHUKWUJEKWU ILOZUE, Awka

THE All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has said that it is throwing the door open to all who have genuine interest in the burial of the former Senate President, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, to participate.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Nnamdi Olebara stated this in Awka, Anambra State, the weekend against the backdrop of the controversy surrounding Okadigbos death.

The Federal Government is however, known to have interest in the burial.

Olebara, who was among the three-man national visitation panel of the ANPP to Anambra State, told newsmen that Okadigbo died for the nation after suffering for the people to make things better.

But he noted that before his death, Okadigbo did not accept the election of President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the party that won the presidential election.

For being steadfast till the end, Olebara said ANPP would give Okadigbo full honours during the burial.

We will honour Okadigbo by allowing anyone who wants to honour him genuinely to participate. We are not going to play politics with his death, he said.

According to him, Okadigbo gave all he has and that was why he had tear-gassed to death, Olebara added.

The three-man national visitation panel, led by Abduraham Adamu, was in Anambra State to strengthen the party to face the on-coming local government elections, according to Adamu.

Charging, ANPP supporters, Adamu, who said the party appreciates, the difficulty being in opposition, vowed that the party would redeem its mandate stolen by PDP.

He urged the members to eschew bickering and forge ahead to keep the partys flag flying.

Adamu added that the national secretariat was aware of the problems facing the party in the state and promised to help it.

He admonished the party to be steadfast because ANPP has a bright chance of ruling Nigeria.
