WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13 , 2004           154 recieve free eye treatment in Albasu By ISMAIL MUHAMMAD OVER 154 people have benefitted from free eye treatment provided by Albasu local government council in Kano state. 40 out of the number were totally blind for the period of ovwe six to 10 years. The chairman of the council, Alhaji Musa Tahir Hungu disclosed this to Daily Triumph at the weekend while realing out his achievements in office. Alhaji Hungu further explained that the project which consumed the sum of N1.5 million will be a continued exercise. He added that the council had monthly repairs and rehabilitated health centres and of drugs at the cost of N27 million. He also said that docters were employed to man the health centres. The chairman stated that his council also employed a total of 224 primary school teachers which was the highest ever employed since the local government was created. Similarly he said 200 people to work on environmental sanitation exercise be employed as directed by the state government. He added that the council assisted people with working tools and finance as part of booster all its effort to reduce poverty in the area.
