WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13 , 2004           37,798 immunised against polio in Babura LG A total of 37,798 children have been immunized against polio during the second round of the exercise in Babura local government area of Jigawa state. The primary health care, coordinator in the area, Alhaji Umar Mustapha Aujara revealed this while speaking to our reporter in his office. He said the primary health care agency in Jahun has provided 48,000 doses of vaccines for the conduct of the exercise, while the local government has targeted more than 46,000 population. Alhaji Umar Mustapha further stated that the council recorded 81 per cent success which the wastage rate stood at 14.3 per cent. He commended the council for moral encouragement give at all times. The PHC Coordinator commended traditional rulers and Ulamas in the area for adequately mobilizing their subjects which had greatly assisted towards achieving the desired goals. Also speaking the central facilitator posted to the area Hajiya Aishatu Aminu Zango said thirteen sweep groups took part in the exercise in all the 7 designated districts. These sweep groups according to the CF are as follows: Babura districts 3, Kanya-Babba district 3, Dorawa district 2 and Jigawa district 2 sweep groups. Others were Batali, Gamu and Takwasa district that got one sweep groups each respectively. Hajiya Aishatu Zango commended the Babura local government and the primary health care coordinator of the area for the support and encouragement given to her and hoped the tempo would be maintained.
