I'm Disappointed in Gombe Workers - Commissioner From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Gombe State Commi-ssioner for Information, Hon. Magaji Doho has expressed disappointment over the joining of on going strike by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). Doho while reacting to the strike in his office, told journalists the state government has taken the organised labour in high esteem and has been cooperating with them since it assumed office in May 29, 2003. According to the commissioner, the previous administrations in the state messed up the organised labour but the Danjuma Goje administration came to their rescue. Said Doho "I am highly disappointed by the act exhibited by labour in Gombe State. This government has accorded them good reception since it came into being. I personally don't expect them to join the strike." He explained that the Goje administration had been paying salary regularly, paid up workers arrears, approved promotion for workers paid leave grant, gave loans to workers and paying pensions among other things. "I expect them to dissociate themselves from the strike. Even if they wanted to go on strike, why directing workers to go at all cost." Besides, the commissioner stated that because of the government respect for the labour, it sold out it low cost houses to civil servants at affordable prices. Hon. Doho therefore called on both the Federal Government and the NLC to embrace dialogue and find a way of ending the strike.
