'Don't Interfere in 2007 Governorship' From Daniel Ior in Makurdi A group known as the "Idoma Network", has called on the Benue State Governor George Akume, Internal Affairs Minister, Dr Iyorchia Ayu and Senator David Mark not to choose a governorship candidate for the Idoma people, but allow them do so by themselves. The group, in a press statement said they have discovered a plot to impose an unpopular candidate on the Idoma people, if they are to produce the next governor of the state. The statement titled "2007 Guber Race: the intrigues, the agenda, Idoma Network against Dr. Agada" said before any candidate would be accepted by the Idoma people, such candidate must be popular and must not have traits of a stooge. They lamented that the powers that be seem to have perfected a plot to anoint "a yes man, a novice, a live and let live, apolitical and inexperienced candidate for the race." They also contend in the statement signed by Mr Ojile Omoche Oduh, President and Mr Joseph Adoba Edoh, Publicity Secretary of the Network, that what was needed at the moment was for the people to collectively make informed choices that would be in the best interest of the state. They said some of the Idoma names being considered are names of people who in every material circumstance, have shown only hate over the collective interest of their kinsmen. Idoma Network, also warned Senator David Mark not to be tempted into doing anything that would seek to install a candidate that was not physically and psychologically prepared for the governorship position.
