Masari Seeks Relocation of Oil Firms' Headquaters From Efem Nkanga in Uyo Speaker of House of Representaives,Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari has called on multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta Region to relocate their headquaters to the states of their operation. Alhaji Masari made this call in Uyo at an interactive session held at Ibom hall with a cross section of the people of Akwa Ibom state. The Speaker noted that Agip and Shell, two major oil companies have already taken the initiative by relocating their headquaters to their area of operations in Port Harcourt. He promised to take up the issue of the absence of a petroleum depot in the state with the petroleum ministry. Masari also expressed the resolve of the House to ensure that oil producing states receive their full derivation, adding that non payment of full derivation will lead to the inability to find scientific indices of the onshore components of the derivation fund by the government. He stated that the House was committed to protecting the interest of all Nigerians and pledged that will tap into the mindset of the peoplec to find out how to legislate and impact positively on their lives. He also disclosed that the National Assembly was in the process of amending the 1999 constitution,adding that section 9 of the 1999 constitution requires the support of state Houses of Assemblies to legitimize any amendment of the constitution. Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Obong Victor Attah in his remarks commended the Federal Legislature for evolving the programme tagged ''we serve you''. Attah represented by his deputy, Engr Chris Ekpenyong also gave kudos to the House for passing the bill abrogating oil dichotomy.
