Odua Companies Not for Sale - Management Oyo From Ademola Adeyemo in Ibadan Management of Odua Investment Company Limi-ted yesterday disclosed that it had no intention to put any of its companies up for sale as being rumoured in some quarters. The group in a statement signed by its Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs, Oloye Lekan Alabi, noted that what the company intended to do "is to reduce the interests of the holding company in its subsidiaries to attract better funding and achieve quantum leap growth in asset base and operating performance." The company was apparently replying to a newspaper report (not THISDAY) credited to former Governor of Oyo State, Alhaji Lam Adesina that "the incumbent governors of the owner states plan to privatise the Odua conglomerate." But according to Alabi "the alleged position, concerning the proposed restructuring and privatisation of Odua investment company limited amounts to a contradiction of the joint approval given in 1999 by the governors. He also explained that it were the former Governors who also approved the company's alignment of her companies and the re-capitalisation of under-funded companies.
