Bauchi to Improve Living Standard - SSG
From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi
Secretary to the Government of Bauchi State (SSG), Alhaji Muhammad Umar has called on the people of the state to be patient with the present administration in its determination towards ensuring the provision of basic social amenities and infrastructure to all the various communities across the state.
Umar, who made the call while fielding questions from journalists shortly after General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) commissioned the Adamami - Jama'are road and the Jurara electrification projects said the citizenry in their quest for a better standard of living must also allow democracy to be firmly established.
While urging the people to support the present administration in the state in its effort to improve their lots, Umar said there was nowhere in the world, including the developed nations, where development was attained overnight.
The SSG said it was heart warming that Governor Ahmadu Mu'azu-led administration was making efforts to ensure that the State achieved development and growth in all the sectors of the economy.
He noted that the present administration has executed several people-oriented projects in just five years unprecedented since the creation of the state pointing out that the State remained the "beacon of hope for the nation's growing democracy".
Umar then called on the elite in the State to join forces with the government in its fight against poverty, want and diseases in the state. "The fight for total emancipation of the people and eradication of poverty should not be left in the hands of government alone but rather it should be a collective responsibility", he said.
He stressed the need for the people to be determined to support "such a patriotic, visionary and transparent leadership of Mu'azu in his dogged determination to ensure even distribution of democracy dividends to the citizenry and ensure that peace and stability reigns in the State".
