From ABDULRAUF IBRAHIM, Abuja
MUSLIMS in the country have been accused of applying
Western laws in doing things rather than the ways of Allah.
The Chief Imam Fua'ad Labadidi Central Mosque, Imam
Tajudeen Bello Adigun who made the accusation while delivering pre-Ramadan
lecture title "Ramadan: How do I stand?" at the 3rd Annual Pre-Ramadan
lecture of the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), Abuja chapter,
said if an unbeliever can apply portion of the Holy Qur'an in his economic
policy he will benefit from it.
Imam Adigun further said their is no any alternative to
Qur'an, therefore anything that Qur'an (Allah) asked one to do is of
benefit.
The guest lecturer urged Muslims to spend their money in
the course of Allah and exhibit unity and brotherhood to their fellow
beings.
He advised those who find fasting difficult to manage to
do it, as it is better for them if they know.
Imam Adigun further encouraged Muslims to observe the
six-day fasting of the month of Shawwal.
According to him, the reason for fasting is for people to
experience fear and closeness to Allah, therefore people should learn on how
too perform fasting in order to achieve their desired goal of the fasting.
In his welcome address, the Emir of the association,
Abdurrasaq A. Olanrewaju, explained that the idea behind the lecture is to
refresh their memory and enable them to harness the bountiful blessing of
Ramadan and possibly guide others towards earning full reward of the month.
Apart from hunger, the Amir said, fasting give us the
chance of appreciating the poor and destitute and thus engender sympathetic
feeling towards them.
He urged Muslims to do everything possible to refrain
from any act that can void their fasting.
Malam Abdurrasaq however promised to visit destitute' houses in Bwari in
order to assist them.
