Woman, two others in court over fraud By Saidat Tella Three suspected fraudsters including a 35-year old woman, Gloria Okoro have been arraigned before an Abuja chief magistrate court sitting in Jabi for defrauding one Mr. Emeka Njogu of the sum of N250, 000. The accused persons, Chijoke Toban, 29 years, Manas Ogbukokwho, 24 years, and a middle aged woman were said to have on August 28, 2004 collected the said money in cash from Emeka of Girls Day Secondary School, Suleja, Niger State under false pretext. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused persons were charged with criminal conspiracy and cheating contrary to sections 97 and 322 of penal code to which they denied. The FIR further revealed that the suspects at Angwan Cement, Kado Village, Abuja admitted to have collected N50, 000 from the man. Counsel representing the suspects, applied for bail of the suspects under section 341 (2) of the criminal procedure code and section 36 (5) of 1999 Constitution. The chief magistrate, Othman Musa, granted bail to the suspects in the sum of N100, 000 each with a surety in the like sum. The case was adjourned to November 25, 2004 for hearing. NEXT.....
