Friday, October 15th, 2004 HOME | Previous Page Obasanjo lauds military’s direct labour agency, seeks support for it By Godwin Egbara Special Correspondent, Bauchi   President Olusegun Obasanjo has praised the Nigerian Army for its professional competence in executing projects through direct labour. He urged state governors to patronise their expertise. While commissioning Post Service Housing Estate constructed by the army in Bauchi, Obasanjo said the military was doing the nation proud through its engineering corps. He added that with little assistance, the military could make great exploits. The president praised the speed at which the estate was executed. Obasanjo hailed Governor Adamu Mua’zu for his continued assistance to the military and for his promise to construct access road, school and health care centre in the military barrack in the state. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Martins Luther Agwai, said the military has the personnel to renovate and rehabilitate its dilapidated barracks if given the financial assistance. Agwai said the construction of the estate was a testimony of the military’s capability to handle complicated construction works. Agwai explained the army has also constructed Post Service Housing Estate in Kaduna, Port-Harcourt, Lagos, Osogbo and the Federal Capital Territory.     Copyright� 2004. All Rights Reserved.
