Friday, October 15th, 2004 HOME | Previous Page Isoko leaders urged to fulfil electoral promises By Francis Onoiribholo Special Correspondent, Ughelli   Isoko political office holders have been urged to fulfil their electioneering promises to the people. Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr Edward Onowhorhua, who made the call at Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area at a joint meeting of PDP members in the two local government areas, said rather than turn their back on the development of the area anf its people, those in government should demonstrate true democratic culture of consultation and interaction with the people who elected them. According to the party leader, PDP has performed well in Isoko North in the new political dispensation. He advised political appointees from the area to work towards attracting more dividends of democracy to the grassroots. He stated that since 1999, elected representatives had created communication gap between them and the electorate, pointing out that there should be a regular forum for interaction with their constituents in order not to create the impression that they (representatives) were not prepared to fulfil their election promises. “What the people need is just thank you tour and to keep them abreast of happenings, since they are the representatives of the people,” he explained.
