NATIONAL NEWS House'll do justice to labour bill — MASARI By Ben Agande Friday, October 15, 2004 ABUJA — The speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari yesterday said the House has the resilience to do justice to all stakeholders in the Trade Union Amendment Act. Declaring open the three-day public hearing on the Act yesterday, the speaker said the House would be guided by the feeling and inputs of Nigerians into the Act. The speaker spoke on a day two unions, Trade Unions Congress and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Teaching Hospitals called for the decentralization of the NLC. According to the speaker, since the issue of the TUC had assumed the front burner in the country’s polity, the House of Representatives must live up to its expectations. He promised that all shades of opinion would be accommodated in the final passage of the bill. Earlier in his speech, the chairman of the committee, Hon. Obeten Obeten assured Nigerians that the committee would do its best to ensure that incessant strikes in the country is curtailed. He appealed to all stakeholders to sheath their swords of revenge and fashion out a labour relations environment that would promote employment in the country.
