Jigawa Police Distribute N2.2m to Families of Slain Officers The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, zone 1, Kano, Mr K.Z. Dudari, yesterday disbursed N2.2 million to the families of four slain officers in the Jigawa command. Distributing the cheques, Dudari said the measure was to ensure the upkeep of the families. Dudari, who commiserated with the families, said the command had completed arrangements to pay them the entitlements of the slain officers. The money, which was disbursed in order of seniority, saw the family of the deceased inspector getting N700,000, while the families of the three sergeants received N500,000 each. The gesture, he said, was aimed at motivating police officers and men, and ensuring their wellbeing for effective policing. Dudari called on them to imbibe the culture of self-preservation and patriotism to enable them to discharge their duty effectively. The police, he said, would not relent in the effort to ensure a crime-free society. Bandits killed the four policemen in a gun battle at Hadejia on Sunday. They were Insp. Daslok Ezekiel, as well as Haruna Abdullahi, Abdul Yahaya and Sabo Umaru, all sergeants.
