Lagos AD to Recall Decampee Lawmakers
Lagos State chapter of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), will soon meet to work out the logistics of recalling two members of the House of Representatives, elected on the party's platform who crossed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently.
A statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Toyin Caxton-Martins, said the party is not surprised about the news of the recent move to the PDP by two of its House of Representatives members, Olufemi Onimole, representing Ifako/Ijaiye Federal Const-ituency and Dotun Animashaun (Kosofe Federal Constituency).
The AD recalls that Dotun Animashaun is a well-known contractor who fell prey to the inducements of the PDP.
"From all indications, his move is based purely on pecuniary inducements from the PDP. This is the way he has made his money over the years, by selling himself to the highest bidder so it was easy for him to be tricked as soon as he saw the colour of money. As for Olufemi Onimole, his re-election to the House of Representatives must be credited to His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who strongly intervened on his behalf to make him the candidate for his constituency."
Noting that Onimole's betrayal of the governor and members of the party is unprecedented, the party noted that "Onimole was a non-performer in his first term of office and as a result, was the least popular candidate, but after many floods of tears and passionate pleas, Tinubu intervened and pleaded with the powers that be in his federal constituency to accept him.
He was a neophyte in politics, but the governor always believes in giving people a second chance. It is very funny that he did not think that the party had lost focus or that the party was a one-man show when he made false promises to gain sympathy at the time of his election."
The party said "these individuals do not play politics based on ideological values and their action show that they are not suitable to adequately represent their constituencies
