PDP Chief Warns Against Imposition KWARA From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin A former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Kwara State, Deacon John Dara, has warned against imposition of candidates during the election, advancing that the trend has militated against positive mobilisation of Nigerians on the side of government on its various reforms. Dara, the National Organising Secretary, Middle-Belt Forum, argued against the reservation of any political office for any particular candidate for future polls in the country. The former aspirant, who said he did not believe in power rotation, Nigerians not to place emphasis on where leaders come from, but ability to lead the country to the promised land. 'There must be no imposition of candidates or leaders on the electorate. Positions must not be reserved for any group or section of the country. It is my hope that every citizen of Nigeria can aspire to any office or position in the land,." Dara said. To him, another clear threat to democracy "is the existence and perpetuation of tribal, religious or family oligarchies, as there cannot be true democracy where there is no free competition and free choice". He said the country had not been able to develop to the level most Nigerians expected, because the nation's political leaders were yet to come to terms with the kind of Nigeria we needed to build. "Our leaders are bereft of ideas, and they lack vision, this is why they are largely predators and nation wreckers rather than nation builders. "They are preoccupied with seeking personal advantages or trying to advance some personal parochial interests, this is why they are pulling the Nigerian nation in different directions, threatening our corporate existence."
